What to Expect from Acupuncture OKC
Quick & Simple
Acupuncture is a quick and simple process, and most patients are in and out in roughly 45 minutes.
Treatment Course
The number of procedures you will need will vary based on your specific condition, the amount of time you’ve had it and other factors determined during your consultation.
1-1 Consultation and Evaluation
Every patient starts with a 1-on-1 consultation where your complete health history will be reviewed, discussed, analyzed and your unique health concerns evaluated. At the end of your consultation, you will be given a customized comprehensive care plan likely needed to achieve your goals as determined by evidence-based clinical data.
The Process
Based on your evaluation, you will be given a comprehensive care plan which aligns with your desired outcomes. Our goal is to get you maximum results during this time while working towards a regular maintenance regimen, usually 1 time per month, by the completion of your comprehensive care plan.
Significant Decrease of Symptoms
Acupuncture can and often results in a significant decrease of symptoms, even in severe pain conditions that have been present for years. Some patients may even experience a complete absence of symptoms, and can maintain results with regular maintenance treatments.
Common Questions
Am I A Candidate For Acupuncture?
The medical literature shows acupuncture’s effect on nearly every biophysical system in the body. I’ve seen patients suffering from a wide variety of problems respond to acupuncture treatment when nothing else has worked.
So, for most people, yes, acupuncture is something you should explore.
How Many Acupuncture Treatments Will I Need?
The number of treatments needed differs from person to person. For complex or long-standing conditions, up to three treatments a week for several months may be recommended. For acute problems, usually fewer visits are required, and for health maintenance, we recommend monthly tune ups.
Does Acupuncture Hurt?
Not usually. The majority of patients report no discomfort or minor tolerable sensation during treatment. Most people end up taking a nap during their treatment and leave feeling refreshed and relaxed.
Is Acupuncture Covered By Insurance?
Whether insurance covers acupuncture truly depends on each individual plan. Insurance companies typically prioritize coverage for conventional treatments that may focus on symptom management rather than addressing the root cause of an issue, as well as restrict the treatments that can be covered.
Because our approach is centered on comprehensive, results-driven care, we are out of network for some insurance providers. The good news is that this allows you to take full control of your treatment decisions without restrictions from insurance policies.
We recommend each patient check with their carrier to see what is covered in their plan, and schedule a consultation so that the doctor can go over your option with you.
